The use of Vacuum Tube Radios, acting as spatialised loudspeakers, is of the main Leitmotifs meandering throughout Spyra´s artistic work. The special, somehow ancient sound of those radios has always fascinated him! -

Installations like "Reise durch die Radiostadt" which was a commissioned work for the Industriesalon Schöneweide, is a guided tour through the history of Berlin´s "Elektropolis" from the 20s until today. It uses soundscapes, vocoder singing, music, abstract noises and original samples from radio broadcasts to offer the listener an entertaining but also bewildering acoustic experience.

In other installations, the radios react to movements of the visitors and thus offer unpredictable and interactive spatialised sound adventures to the interacting audience.
