Kick the Bucket

Collaborative project with artist Adrian Palka in which oil barrels are connected to a computer through contact microphones. On throwing stones at the barrels, spectators activate sampled sounds extracted from news and media archives, initiating a multiplicity of voices and moods associated with historical events. The sampled selection has been reworked at different locations to address the artists' different responses to specific global events. The installation becomes a means of reordering the ways in which such events are mediated.
