Black Box

Participants are invited to inscribe their earliest memories on the surface of a black metal cabinet, an object chosen for its multiple associations.

The sounds of the chalk inscriptions induce a computer generated voice within the cabinet which reads from Sigmund Freud's 'Interpretation of Dreams'. Encoded signifiers of the unconscious are juxtaposed with the omniscient voice of 'The One Who Knows' to engender a situation in which desire and intrigue are fostered..
